Biography

Eli Epstein joined the Cleveland Orchestra in 1987, and became Horn Instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1989. He has appeared several times as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra. Mr. Epstein left Eli EpsteinCleveland in 2005, and moved to Boston to devote more time and energy toward educational and creative endeavors. An active chamber musician, he has performed at Jordan Hall, Severance Hall, Tanglewood, Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, Aspen Music Festival, the Kennedy Center, and Music Academy of the West. He is on the faculties of New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, Music Academy of the West, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he has served as Principal Horn of the Aspen Chamber Symphony since 2000. Mr. Epstein has conducted ensembles at NEC, Cleveland Institute of Music, Music Academy of the West, Longy School of Music, The Boston Conservatory, and Fundacion Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil de Guanare Ensamble de Metales in Venezuela. At New England Conservatory, he is on the college faculty, Brass Chair of the Preparatory School, on faculty of NEC at Walnut Hill and Director of the NEC Youth Brass Ensemble. Advocating the idea that music can be a meaningful and uplifting force in society, in 2009 Mr. Epstein won Grand Prize in the Entrepreneur the Arts Contest for his Inside Out Concerts, and appeared on Heartbeat of America with William Shatner. Since 2010, Mr. Epstein has presented pre-concert lectures for the Philadelphia Orchestra.
